CHUB Concludes Five-Day ENT Surgical Camp, Expanding Patient Care and Clinical Training

#CHUB – 28 November 2025 – The University Teaching Hospital of Butare (CHUB) on Friday, 28 November 2025, concluded a five-day surgical camp organized in collaboration with the Rwanda ENT, Head and Neck Surgery Society. The initiative combined specialized patient care with hands-on clinical training for future ENT specialists.

Over the course of the week, a dedicated team of ENT surgeons performed surgical procedures for patients who had been previously screened and prepared. The camp significantly improved access to specialized ear, nose, and throat services and contributed to addressing the backlog of selected surgical cases.

Beyond service delivery, the surgical camp provided an important learning opportunity for residents and interns specializing in ENT. Under the supervision and mentorship of experienced surgeons, trainees actively participated in procedures, strengthening their practical skills and deepening their clinical knowledge.

The initiative reflects CHUB’s continued commitment to delivering quality, specialized healthcare while advancing medical education. By integrating patient care with structured training, the hospital reinforces its role as a national referral and teaching institution.

CHUB remains dedicated to fostering partnerships with professional medical societies and stakeholders to enhance clinical services and build sustainable capacity in specialized healthcare across Rwanda.
