Welcome to the Division of Clinical Education and Research at the University Teaching Hospital of Butare (CHUB).

THE CLINICAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH DIVISION

The CHUB is one of  CHUs according to the Presidential Order Establishing the University Teaching Hospital of Butare N° 028/01 of 06/05/2022.

As one of the leading teaching hospitals in the country, it serves to ensure high quality care for the population, continuous professional development programs for the staff, training of future health professionals and an adequate environment for the researchers from inside and outside the country. The CHUB, with its dedicated staff, strives to be among the best in the region and the world in clinical training and research.

The Clinical Education and Research Division is responsible for coordinating research activities, training programs for health care providers, and teachings for students. More specifically, its responsibilities are as follows:

  • To identify needs for ongoing training and capacity building of staff;
     
  • To organise continuous professional development programmes: Workshops, seminars, symposiums, conferences, etc;
     
  • To provide a clinical learning environment for students where skills and knowledge are applied to patient care;
     
  • To organize trainings of research leads, to promote knowledge in research and research related activities;
     
  • To oversee the activities of committees in charge of Research Governance and Ethics in the Hospital;
     
  • To cooperate with regional and international institutions to promote high quality of clinical education and collaborative research.
     
  • To promote operational research focused on global health issues

Dr NDOLI MINEGA Jules

Head of Clinical Education and Research Division

Dr Ndoli Minega Jules is the Head of Clinical Education and Research Division at the University Teaching Hospital of Butare (CHUB). He’s a senior consultant anaesthesiologist, member of the Rwanda Society of Anaesthesiologists (RSA), founding member of the College of Anaesthesiologists of the Eastern, Central and Southern Africa (CANECSA) with over 15 years of experience in clinical education as a clinician, and senior clinical manager.

He holds a bachelor degree in General Medicine, and a Master of Medicine in Anaesthesia and Critical Care from the National University of Rwanda. He has a particular interest in clinical research, coordinated several research projects including clinical trials with numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Dr Jules Ndoli Minega is the Chairperson of the Hospital Infection Prevention Committee since 2009.

Prior to his current position, he successively held the positions of Clinical Director and Head of Clinical Services Division.
